How to Play

Everything you need to solve logic grid puzzles

The Goal

Every puzzle has a set of categories (like Person, Pet, and Drink). Each item in one category pairs with exactly one item from every other category. Your job is to figure out all the correct pairings using only the clues provided.

Person Pet Drink
Alex Cat Tea
Blake Dog Coffee
Casey Fish Milk

The Grid

The grid shows every possible pairing between categories. Each cell represents one potential match. You'll mark cells to track what you've figured out.

Example grid: Drink by Pet
Pet
Cat Dog Fish
Drink Tea
Coffee
Milk

Making Marks

Click a cell to cycle through three states:

  • Empty No information yet
  • ✗ Eliminated Not a match
  • ✓ Confirmed It's a match!

When you place a ✓, the rest of that row and column is automatically filled with ✗ marks — since each item can only pair with one other.

Using the Clues

Clues tell you about relationships between items. Some examples:

"Alex has the Cat." → Place a ✓ where Alex and Cat intersect.
"Blake does not drink Coffee." → Place an ✗ where Blake and Coffee intersect.
"The Cat owner drinks Tea." → Cat and Tea go together — place a ✓ at Cat × Tea.

Click a clue to cross it off once you've used it. This helps you track your progress through the puzzle.

Tips

  1. Start with the most direct clues — ones that name two specific items — before tackling complex ones.
  2. When you place a ✓, look at what ✗ marks appear. They often trigger chain reactions that reveal more answers.
  3. "All different" clues mean none of the mentioned items belong to the same entity. Place ✗ marks at every intersection between them.
  4. If you're stuck, use the Hint button — each press reveals a little more, from a gentle nudge to the exact next deduction.

Your Tools

  • Hint Explains the next deduction in words — press again for more detail. If the board has a mistake, it helps you find that first.
  • Clear Errors Removes any incorrect marks from the grid.
  • Auto-fill Completes the board the moment your ✓s pin down the whole solution. Turn it off to finish the grid by hand.
  • Undo / Redo Step backward or forward through your moves. Keyboard: Ctrl+Z / Ctrl+Y.
  • Pause Hides the grid and pauses the timer.
  • Reset Start the puzzle over from scratch.
